Jamaat lawmaker freed from jail

Jamaat-e-Islami lawmaker Hamidur Rahman Azad, also the secretary of the Dhaka City unit of Jamaat, was freed from Dhaka Central Jail last night on bails after 70 days of imprisonment. Golam Haider, deputy inspector general of Prisons (Dhaka Division), said the Jamaat leader walked out of the jail at around 8:00pm yesterday, after he obtained bails in two cases filed for damaging vehicles, assaulting police and obstructing them from discharging their duties on September 19. Jail officials said he obtained the last bail from the High Court on Sunday and after verification of the court order they freed him last night.
