Khaleda invites views from alliance leaders
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia last night sought the opinion of the leaders of the BNP-led four-party alliance about the agitation programmes she is to declare from the March 12 rally.
At a meeting with the alliance members at her Gulshan office, she directed them to place their proposals in writing, meeting sources said.
The meeting discussed the preparations for the rally aimed at mounting pressure on the government for a restoration of the caretaker government system.
“We've discussed the upcoming rally. She [Khaleda] also informed us about the expansion of the alliance. An announcement in this regard may come from the rally," said Abdul Latif Nezami, secretary general of Islami Oikya Jote.
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Jamaat-e-Islami leaders Abdus Sobhan and Mia Golam Parwar, Bangladesh Jatiya Party chairman Andaleeve Rahman Partho, among others, were present at the 30-minute meeting that began around 10:00pm.
