Two Hizb-ut-Tahrir men arrested in Ctg

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) personnel arrested two siblings from Jhautala Railway Colony in the port city on Wednesday night for their alleged link with banned Islamist outfit Hizb-ut-Tahrir. The arrestees were identified as Md Ziaul Haque Arif, 27, a storekeeper of Four H Group at Monsurabad, and his younger brother Mirajul Haque Johnny, 26, an honours final year student of English department at Hazi Mohammad Mohsin College in the city. Both reside in Jhautala under Khulshi Police Station. Acting on a tip-off, a team of Rab-7 raided the residence of Syed Shamsul Haque, brother-in-law of the two, in Jhautala Railway Colony area around 11:30pm and arrested them. The Rab members also seized some posters, leaflets and books that contain anti-government writings, said ASP Nurul Huda, deputy director of Rab-7. Arif and Johnny were taken to Rab-7 office for interrogation, he added.
