Six killed in road accidents
Six people were killed and two others injured in separate road accidents in Chittagong, Noakhali, Satkhira and Rangpur early Saturday and yesterday.
Our Chittagong correspondent reports: Two motorcyclists were injured as a truck hit their bike on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Sufia Road area at Mirsarai upazila yesterday noon.
They are Md Ali Mamun, 27, and Ripon Kanti Das, 28.
After the accident, another Chittagong-bound truck ran over the two injured when they skidded off the bike, leaving them dead instantly, said police.
In Noakhali, Md Ripon, 11, a primary school student, was killed as a truck ran over him while he was crossing the Datterhat-Baderhat road at Jalal Miar godown in the sadar upazila yesterday night.
In Natore, Obaidul Islam, 40, a three-wheeler driver died and two others injured as the vehicle overturned on Natore-Dhaka highway in Ahmedpur area in the sadar upazila on Saturday.
In Satkhira, betel leaf trader Sohrab Hossain, 52, was killed when a truck rammed an auto-rickshaw carrying him at Patkelghata Bazar in Tala upazila yesterday.
In Rangpur, Kinder Garten student Maria Aktar Mumu, 7, died on the spot as a truck ran over her in Jalkar area on the outskirts of the town on Saturday morning.
