Irregularities won't be tolerated

Says Obaidul Quader
Bss, Dhaka
Communications Minister Obaidul Quader yesterday warned of stern action against irregularities, corruption and negligence of duty and said the ministry would take departmental action against those responsible. He said this while paying a surprise visit to Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) office at Mirpur to see for himself the ongoing activities there. He talked to those who came there to deposit money for tax token, fitness certificate and driving license, a press release said. Some of them said quality of service of BRTA was improved recently due to surprise visit of the minister while others complained to the minister about widespread irregularities in the office. They said they (clients) didn't get any service without paying money. “I will not tolerate any irregularities anymore. Stern action will be taken against those officials who would be found involved in irregularities,” Quader warned. The minister also asked the authorities concerned to provide due services to the clients, the release added.
