CPA official, wife sued

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case against a Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) official and his wife yesterday on charges of amassing Tk 1,09,53,377 beyond known sources of income. Moreover, CPA Deputy Traffic Manager (Admin) Moshiur Rahman Begh and his wife Nilufa Akhter allegedly concealed in their wealth statements Tk 73,28,356 they had in their possession. ACC Chittagong Deputy Assistant Director Shahidul Alam Sarkar, who filed the case with Double Mooring Police Station, said they started their investigations after an allegation was filed with them in 2007. Moshiur, a former terminal manager of the port, pleaded guilty to corruption at the Truth Commission which was formed in the immediate past caretaker government regime.
