Mother of BCL leader Aziz Khan Sajib, who was killed in an attack by the rivals, yesterday demanded exemplary punishment to the culprits responsible for the death of her son. Sajib's mother Rina Aktar was speaking at a press conference at the university central cafeteria on the campus. She demanded expulsion of the students involved with the killing. Sajib, 25, organising secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (Ruet) Zia Hall unit and a fourth year student of civil engineering department, succumbed to his injuries on March 16 this year in an attack by the cadres of a rival faction over previous enmity. Rina said Sajib's killers were threatening them of withdrawing the case filed with Motihar police station accusing 14 BCL men on March 15. Rina demanded the university authorities and the law enforcers to take immediate steps to punish the killers of her son. Criticising the law enforcers, she said police were yet to arrest a single accused. Meanwhile, students of the university formed a human chain on the campus yesterday demanding arrest of the culprits. When contacted, Abdur Razzak, investigative officer (IO) of the case, told The Daily Star that they had sent message to 14 police stations to arrest the accused. Ruet Vice Chancellor Prof Sirajul Karim Chowdhury said they would take steps against the students as they yet to respond to the show cause notices.
