PM assures support to AUW
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday assured the authorities of the Asian University for Women (AUW) of continued government support.
She made the assurance when Board of Trustees Chairman of the Asian University for Women Dr Sheikha Al-Misnad met the prime minister at her official residence Gono Bhaban.
PM's Deputy Press Secretary Bijan Lal Dev briefed journalists after the meeting.
Reiterating her government's priority to the education sector, the premier said her government had ensured distribution of free textbooks up to secondary level and formed the Education Assistance Trust Fund.
Dr Sheikha al-Misnad thanked Hasina for her government's continued support to the university situated in Chittagong.
Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni, Education Secretary Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Abdus Sobhan Golap were present.
