The High Court yesterday directed the Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC) to take steps in 48 hours to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity on Dhaka District Judges' Court premises for running judicial functions properly. In response to a writ petition, the court also ordered the managing director and the director (operation) of DPDC to submit a report after complying with the order to it in seven days. An HC bench came up with the order following a writ petition filed by Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB). Advocates Asaduzzaman Siddiqui and Eklas Uddin Bhuiyan of HRPB filed the writ petition yesterday following some newspapers reports saying that Dhaka District Judges' Court runs activities with candle lights due to shortage of electricity.
