Woman shot without provocation
Two unidentified youths, without any provocation, shot a woman on the knee at the capital's East Jurain yesterday.
Daughter of the victim, Shefali Begum, 45, being treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said Shefali opened the door hearing the doorbell at around 3:45pm and saw the youths, one of whom who shot her point-blank.
Police suspect that the youths were extortionists who were actually looking for the landlord, Abdul Khaleque, but shot the tenant instead.
