Man killed over land dispute
Two rival groups clashed over a long-standing land dispute at Chandai village of Atghoria upazila Thursday night, leaving one man dead and at least 10 others injured.
Police arrested four persons in connection with the killing of Abdul Hai Mollah, 25, son of Khalilur Rahman.
The clash erupted after Mollah was resisted from occupying a piece of land beside his home by the rival group of Shafikul Alam Munshi.
Locals said the families of Mollah and Munshi enjoy joint share of the land with neither having the right to possession.
The two groups clashed with sharp weapons and sticks.
The injured of both the sides were admitted to Atghoria Upazila Health Complex where Mollah succumbed to his injuries at about 10:00pm.
Md Monjur Islam, officer-in-charge of Atghoria Police Station, said police sent the body to Pabna Medical Hospital morgue for autopsy yesterday. A case was filed in this conection.
He said police sent the arrested four--Shajahan Ali Munshi, Mohammed Ali Munshi, Shahinur Munshi and Forhad Munshi--to jail.
