Woman dies as Ctg fishermen clash

A woman, who was critically injured in a clash at Sitakunda upazila in Chittagong on Saturday, died at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) yesterday morning Chairman of Domkhali union Tajul Islam Nijami said Santoshi Bala, 40, wife of Shridam Jaladas, hailing from Domkhali village of Sitakunda upazila, was hurt critically as one of the rivals hit on her head with a machete. Another injured person in the same incident, identified as Madhumangal, 35, is also in critical condition at CMCH, police said. A group of fishermen from the north bank of Domkhali canal in Mirsarai attacked the fishermen of south bank of the canal in Sitakunda over establishing supremacy in the canal, leaving seven people injured. The other injured were taken to a local health complex. A case was lodged with Sitakunda Police Station in this connection, said Sub-Inspector Mosarraf Hossain.
