Ex-DSE president's bank accounts frozen

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) yesterday froze bank accounts of Shakil Rizvi, former president of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), on charge of tax evasion. The NBR ordered the banks to suspend all kinds of money transactions from his accounts until further instruction. The tax administrator took the step to realise the outstanding taxes from Shakil, said an NBR letter that were issued to banks. Officials said the NBR earlier found that Shakil had Tk 4 crore as outstanding tax but he did not repay it. Shakil could not be reached for his comments in this regard.
