Bar council poll uncertain

Staff Correspondent
Elections to Bangladesh Bar Council became uncertain on its scheduled date, as the Supreme Court yesterday upheld a High Court order that stayed the process for holding the elections. Bangladesh Bar Council, the licensing authority for allowing legal practice to lawyers, is scheduled to hold elections to its executive body on May 28. The Appellate Division of SC yesterday came up with the order after vacating its chamber judges' order that halted the HC order that had stayed the process for holding the bar council elections, with a direction to correct its voters' lists 15 days before the date of polling.
