RU student held for 'Shibir link'
Police yesterday arrested a Rajshahi University student suspecting him to be an activist of Islami Chhatra Shibir.
The arrested, Al-Amin, a third year student of Arabic department, was captured by a group of Bangladesh Chhatra League men, while he arrived on the campus to collect his admit card for honours third year final examinations.
When the Chhatra League activists beat him up with iron rods and sticks at Shamsuzzoha Hall, police rescued AL-Amin and took him to Motihar Police Station.
RU unit Shibir leaders were not available for comments.
Proctor Choudhury Muhammad Zakaria said law enforcers would take steps against AL-Amin if he was found involved in the campus violence on February 9, 2010.
