Hearing on Rizvi's bail plea May 17

BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi yesterday sought bail to the sessions judge's court in connection with two cases--one filed for exploding bombs near the secretariat and another for torching a vehicle near the Prime Minister's Office during hartal hours. The court fixed May 17 for hearing Rizvi's bail petition. KHOKHON'S BAIL-BOND Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Saifur Rahman asked BNP lawmaker Mahbub Uddin Khokon to furnish bail-bond upon a bond of Tk 10,000 with two guarantors. On May 3, a third judge of the High Court granted him anticipatory bail till today in a case filed for torching the vehicle near the PMO during hartal. Justice Khondker Musa Khaled came up with the bail order a day after the judges of a division bench delivered dissenting orders on the same issue. Meantime, another Dhaka court rejected a plea for cancelling the remand order given earlier to place BNP leader Rehana Akhter Dolly on a three-day remand in the bomb blast case. The same court on May 7 granted a three-day remand to Dolly.
