4 'commit' suicide
Four people, including a female university student, a newly-married girl, a small trader and an elderly man, allegedly took their lives in separate incidents in the capital yesterday.
A private university student allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in her bedroom at Shyamoli in the capital yesterday.
Daughter of Bazlur Rahman of North Shyamoli, the deceased was identified as Naznin Rahman Koli, 21, a BBA second year student of Northern University.
Koli's father Bazlur Rahan told Sher-e-Banglanagar Police that they broke open the door of her room as she was not responding despite being called repeatedly and found the girl hanging at around 7:30am.
"Then we got her down and rushed her to the National Heart Institute at Sher-e-Banglanagar where doctors declared her dead", Bazlur told police.
Khaleda Akhter Kalpana, 19, wife of one Al Amin, hanged herself to death in her husband's residence at Uttar Para of Uttarkhan in the morning.
Police recovered the body from her husband's house around 7:00am.
Kalpana's father Abu Abul filed a murder case with Uttarkhan Police Station accusing the victim's husband, worker of a mineral water plant, and three of his family members.
Quoting the complaint Sub-Inspector Abdul Kader said Al Amin had been demanding a passenger electronic bike as dowry from his in-laws since he married Kalpana three months ago.
Abul alleged that the in-laws killed her for his failure to meet the demand.
Meanwhile, Dinesh Babu Roy, 35, a trader of Shyampur, committed suicide hanging from shower inside bathroom. His wife Laxmi Roy found his hanging body at around 12:00 noon.
Laxmi told police that Dinesh entered the bathroom after returning home from an oil shop. As he was not returning after a long time, Laxmi peeped into the bathroom and found the body hanging. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead at around 1:30pm.
Reasons behind his death could not be known immediately. Dinesh was not doing well in business and was frustrated.
Police recovered the body of an elderly man identified as Nazimuddin, 70, in Pallabi at around 12:30pm, which was hanging in his bedroom.
