Death of Bus Driver

Three Jamaat leaders held

Three Jamaat-e-Islami leaders were arrested yesterday in connection with a case filed for killing a driver by torching a bus on April 21, the day before the BNP's hartal, in the capital's Khilgaon. They are Kabir Ahmed, Khilgaon thana unit Jamaat ameer, Julfikar Ali, Khilgaon ward unit Jamaat president; and Md Shahidullah, a member of Dhaka city unit Jamaat. Bus driver Badar Ali Begh, 48, was burnt to death while he was asleep inside his bus that was set fire before Khidma Hospital. Sub-inspector Moksedur Rahman, investigation officer (IO)of the case, told The Daily Star that he produced the three Jamaat men before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's court seeking remand for 10 days for each and the court granted one-day remand for each.
