Four held with 19 tolas stolen gold

Detective Branch of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested four people with Tk 40,000 and 19 tolas of gold which was allegedly stolen from a house last year. The arrestees, Selina Begum, 27, Ruhul Amin, 30, Mohammad Selim, 25, and Mohammad Abul Hossain, 43, are residents of Vuzpur village of Fatikchhari upazila in Chittagong. Acting on a tip-off, a DB team made the arrests in drives in Chittagong and Khagrachhari yesterday and on Wednesday, said CMP Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam at a press conference at CMP Headquarters yesterday. One, Shamsul Alam, had filed a case accusing Selina and Ruhul, employed as the domestic help and caretaker respectively at his Biswa Colony residence, of disappearing with gold ornaments of his worth Tk 37 lakh on July 18, 2011.
