Fake MP, his APS held
Police arrested two persons from the residence of District Commissioner (DC) in the port city early yesterday on charge of giving false identity to the DC.
Police also seized a car bearing the logo of the Member of Parliament (MP) of Jatiya Sangsad from their possession.
Police said Hafijur Rahman and his son Abdus Sabur Khan of Bagerhat district went to the DC's residence by the car around 11:30pm on Wednesday.
At the entrance point, Hafiz told the security personnel that he is the MP of Khulna-2 constituency and Sabur is his APS.
But Hafiz introduced himself as a former customs officer to the DC's personal staff and told them that he talked to the DC over mobile phone about a meeting with him.
When Hafiz met the DC, he tried to sell car with a small amount. As the DC became confused with his talks he called police.
Later, Kotwali police arrested the two around 1:30am and seized the car. A case was filed against the two in this connection.
OC of Kotwali Police Station Rafiqul Islam said we were informed that 17 cases have been filed against him with different police stations across the country.
Meanwhile, Hafiz told journalists at Chittagong Metropolitan Police Headquarters yesterday said he is innocent and he went to the DC's residence to sell a car with a small amount.
