Some 100 Rajshahi University officials yesterday formed a human chain and staged a sit-in on the campus demanding Agrani Bank Limited to implement the loan agreement signed with the university on May 2 last year. As per the agreement, the bank's RU branch was supposed to provide loans to the officials with a 10-year repayment period at 8 percent interest. But the agreement remains to be implemented, they said. The officials, under the banner, “Officers-Employees Oikya Parishad”, at a rally before the bank's RU branch, threatened to go for tougher movements, including indefinite strike, if the agreement was not implemented. The parishad President Muhammad Abdus Salam and General Secretary Dr Kamim Ahmed, former president Shahidul Islam Babu and member Ruhul Amin addressed the programme.
