Sust engineering faculty teachers continue strike
The teachers of eight departments of the Applied Science and Engineering faculty at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) continued their strike for the 4th day yesterday to press home their demand for uniform promotion guidelines.
No class or examination was held at the departments yesterday following the strike that began on Wednesday.
They formed a human chain on the campus and staged a three-hour sit-in before the administrative building as a part of their agitations.
The teachers said they were forced to call the strike as the university authorities had not taken any measure despite repeated requests for uniform guidelines for teachers' promotion'. They said they would launch tougher agitation if their demands were not met immediately.
Vice Chancellor Prof Md Salehuddin said teachers' strike was not warranted at all as the demands could be resolved through discussion.
