Muggers looted Tk 12.2 lakh from Sonali Bank officials at Mirpur in the capital, leaving one of the officials bullet-hit yesterday. Police said four muggers in a private car intercepted the microbus carrying six officials of Mirpur-1 branch of the bank at Rainkhola while they were going to a nearby ATM booth to deposit the money. The muggers made the officials hostage at gunpoint, vandalised the vehicle and looted a trunk containing the money. As the bank staff tried to resist them, the muggers fired several gunshots, one of which hit the cheek of junior officer Abdul Khaleque. Khaleque was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The driver of the microbus and another officer were also injured in the attack.
