Poverty Alleviation
5-yr agreement among Brac, DFID, AusAID
To alleviate poverty of over 1.3 million people and support 0.68 million children for having primary education, Brac, UK Department for International Development (DFID) and AusAID signed a five-year agreement on Wednesday.
The agreement will also focus on providing contraceptive services to over 15 million couples, says a press release.
Brac Chairperson Sir Fazle Hasan Abed said the partnership will strengthen the existing bonds and commitment among Bangladesh, United Kingdom and Australia.
“Through this agreement, we are re-affirming our commitment to work together to tackle the causes of poverty…”, said UK Secretary of State for International Development, Andrew Mitchell.
Australian Foreign Minister Bob Carr praised the role of Brac at the ceremony.
