14 killed in road accidents

Fourteen people were killed and three others injured in road accidents in Sirajganj, Dinajpur, Rangpur and Natore on Tuesday and yesterday. Our Sirajganj correspondent reports, eight people were killed in three road accidents yesterday. In an accident, a truck rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Hatikumrul Intersection around 7:15am. Two of the deceased were auto-rickshaw driver Badsha Miah, 25, and its passenger Arman Ali, 32. Three people were killed when a bus hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Rahmatganj Katherpool area of Sirajganj Sadar upazila yesterday. Robbani Khokon, 45, died on the spot, while Motiar Rahman, 52, Amzad Hossain, 50, died at Sirajganj Sadar Hospital. A passer-by, Jahangir, 15, was crushed by a truck at Dobirganj in Tarashganj upazila yesterday. An unidentified man was killed on the spot when a truck crashed his bicycle on Sirajganj-Nalka road yesterday. Our Dinajpur correspondent adds, two people were killed in two road accidents in the district yesterday. The victims were Md Munna, 6, son of Dudu Mia of Ayra village in Birampur upazila, and Atiar Rahman 35, of Kasigari village in Ghoraghat upazila. Our Rangpur correspondent reports, three people were killed and three others injured in three road accidents in Rangpur on Tuesday and yesterday. In an incident, truck driver Ismail Hossain, 40, was killed when a Bogra bound truck hit his halted truck on Rangpur-Dhaka highway in Modern Intersection area in Rangpur town on Tuesday night. Three day-labourers were also injured in the incident. In another incident, a bus ran over motorcyclist Ataur Rahman, 25, on Rangpur-Fulbari road killing him on the spot yesterday. In another accident, Anwara Begum, 45, was killed on the spot as a tractor ran over her in Baderganj BRAC office area around at 1:00am yesterday UNB reports from Natore, a freedom fighter was killed in a road accident at Agran Bazar in Baraigram upazila yesterday. The victim Matiur Rahman, 60, was killed as a speedy bus hit him when he was crossing the road.
