Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday said her government will consider the establishment of a mountaineering institute to educate people about mountain expeditions. The prime minister said this at a reception to four Mount Everest conquerors of the country -- Musa Ibrahim, MA Mohit, Nishat Majumder, and Wasfia Nazrin -- at the prime minister's office. Congratulating the four conquerors, Sheikh Hasina hoped that their courage and determination would inspire the future generations. She said the new generations would be confident enough to tackle every hurdle in the nation's march forward. The prime minister hoped Bangladesh will be enlightened more in education and knowledge, and one day will stand amidst the world community keeping its head high. Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh has many achievements, and it has been possible to achieve those as the country emerged as an independent nation under the leadership of Bangabandhu. The prime minister presented crests to the Everest winners and wrote them an honouray cheque for Tk one lakh each. State Minister for Youth and Sports Ahad Ali Sarkar, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury and the four conquerors spoke on the occasion. A colourful cultural function was held after the reception.
