7 Hizb ut-Tahrir men held
Seven alleged members of banned outfit Hizb ut-Tahrir Bangladesh were arrested in separate drives by Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in the capital's Mohammadpur, Hazaribagh and Dhanmondi areas in the last two days.
The arrestees were Tareque Saiful, 18, Ashraful Karim Rokib, 25, Safayet Jamil Sohag, 22, Fahad Hossain Qaiyum, 26, Shahadat Haque Munna, 20, Mahmud Hasan Rabin, 20, and Nur Mohammad Khoka, 25.
They were handed over to Mohammadpur Police Station.
Tipped off, a team of Rab-2 conducted a drive at Mohammadia Housing Ltd in Mohammadpur around 6:30pm on Saturday and caught three Hizb ut-Tahrir members.
The team conducted two more drives at Jhigatala in Hazaribagh and Dhanmondi around 5:15am yesterday and arrested four more members of the banned outfit.
The elite force personnel also recovered a number of books on Jihad, leaflets, a laptop, four personal computers and eight mobile sets from the possession of the arrestees.
