Ctg-Bandarban road link snapped for downpour
Downpour in the last three days and onrush of water from hills caused floods in many areas in Satkania upazila, snapping vehicular movement on Chittagong-Bandarban highway yesterday afternoon.
Sources said incessant rainfall submerged the roads at Amtali in the upazila and Bandarban and flood water has inundated many low-lying areas.
Bandarban district administration sources said the water level of the rivers, Sangu and Matamuhuri, was also increasing.
KM Tarikul, Bandarban deputy commissioner, said the transportation was suspended as the roads went under water at Keranihat and Amtali due to flow of water from hills.
The locals living on the banks of the rivers are starting to take shelter in safer places, the sources added.
