Factory fined for pollution
The Department of Environment (DoE) yesterday fined a factory Tk 1 lakh at Pallabi in the capital for creating noise pollution and heat, causing sufferings to the local people.
A DoE team, led by its director Mohammad Munir Chowdhury, fined Shahjalal Foods as it was found guilty, said a press release.
The team also asked the owner of the factory to shift it to other place by the next two months.
The factory owner admitted that they had been running the factory without any clearance from the department and BSTI licence for the last 20 years.
