ICRC lauds BGB treatment of Rohingyas

Diplomatic Correspondent
Outgoing head of Delegation of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Dhaka, Christoph Vogt, yesterday appreciated the way Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) treated Myanmar citizens at the borders during the recent violence in the neighbouring country. In this regard, he mentioned that it was ICRC which had trained BGB personnel on different issues, including international humanitarian law and best use of force or firearms. Paying a farewell call on Foreign Minister Dipu Moni at her office, Vogt said ICRC has been helping the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed and would expand its operations in Chittagong by the second half of 2012, says a foreign ministry press release.
