HC order summoning Amar Desh editor stayed

The Supreme Court (SC) yesterday stayed for eight weeks two orders of the High Court that summoned Mahmudur Rahman, acting editor of Bangla daily Amar Desh, two reporters of the daily and 19 others before it (HC) for publishing two separate reports involving Justice AHM Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik. Mahmudur and the reporters recently filed two separate petitions with the SC against the HC's summon orders. After holding hearing on the petitions, Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division of the SC Justice MA Wahhab Miah yesterday stayed the HC's summon orders and asked them to submit regular leave to appeals with the SC in eight weeks against the HC orders.
