Home Minister Shahara Khatun yesterday said the government would take action after investigation if ATN Bangla Chairman Mahfuzur Rahman had made any "disgraceful" comment against the prime minister and Rapid Action Battalion (Rab). “If he said anything against the prime minister, action will be taken,” she said following a discussion on International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in the capital's Osmani Smriti Auditorium. Mahfuzur has recently called Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina "talkative" during a programme in London. A private television channel telecast a report on the speech on Monday. During his London visit, he also remarked that the journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi were victims of an "extramarital affair". Shahara Khatun said misleading comments of journalists regarding Sagar-Runi killing were hampering the investigation. “If any such comments mislead people, we will take action.” Talking about a recent attack on journalists, she said, “If you have allegations, you can file a case against the accused. We will take action.” A handful of journalists of two private television stations owned by Mahfuzur Rahman attacked some journalists protesting Sagar-Runi killing at Jatiya Press Club on June 24. Sagar and Runi were killed in their rented flat in the capital on February 11.
