Free diabetes check-up camp at Kishoreganj
About 47 per cent of people, diagnosed at a daylong diabetic camp at Bhairan in Kishoreganj district, were found to have diabetes yesterday.
The camp, organised by FRF Diagnostic & Research Centre, a non-profit organisation, diagnosed a total of 385 people for free at MP Pilot Girls' High School and found 180 people with diabetes positive.
A team of five doctors, led by Associate Prof Dr MA Hasanat of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, gave them medical consultation and treatment.
Chairman of the research centre, Barrister Faheemul Huq, and officials Dr Motiul Islam and Mohammed Ziaul Haque also attended the camp from where food chart for diabetes patients were distributed.
A multimedia presentation was also given about the way of prevention of the disease.
One in ten adults worldwide has diabetes, a World Health Organisation (WHO) report said recently.
