Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday promised her government's all-out support for flourishing the talents of the country's cultural activists through maintaining a congenial atmosphere for them. “I myself believe that flourishing of any sector like sports, art and culture is not possible unless there is any support and sponsorship from the government and others,” she said while addressing the inauguration of National Drama Festival on the Liberation War at the Shilpakala Academy in the afternoon. The festival is being organised across the country with staging of over 100 dramas. Mentioning that the trial of war criminals has already begun on Bangladesh's soil, the prime minister hoped that such a festival would play an important role in mobilising public opinion for this trial and reliving the country of the distortion of history. She also assured of her government's all-out cooperation in flourishing the culture and tradition saying that culture can make a special contribution towards building the nation. Hasina said everybody should take initiatives to preserve the history and heritage of the War of Liberation as well as motivate the children, juvenile and youths to move ahead, imbued with the spirit of the Liberation War and local culture. She urged all the institutions working for the development of education, literature and culture, including the Shilpakala Academy, to play a pioneering role in this regard. Hasina expressed the hope that the Shilpakala Academy would take new projects to motivate the future generation in the spirit of the Liberation War to build a hunger and poverty-free, prosperous, peaceful and non-communal Bangladesh.
