Lighterage Sramik Union calls work abstention from tomorrow
Bangladesh Lighterage Sramik Union called work abstention for an indefinite period across the country from tomorrow to press home a 16-point demand, said a press release yesterday.
The demands include providing appointment letter and identity cards to the workers, restructuring of wage scale, canceling the renewal system of five year duration of certificates for masters and drivers, and increasing navigability of rivers.
Abu Taher, president of the union, said despite several requests concerned authorities including government, lighter vessel owners and labour directorate did not assured of fulfilling the demands.
