RU, IUB adjudged winners
Two teams of students from Rajshahi University (RU) and Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) were adjudged winners in the Robi-IUB Young Journalist Contest 2012.
The first runners-up were from American International University, Bangladesh and RU while the second runners-up were from IUB and Daffodil International University.
Robi Axiata Limited Chief Technical Officer AKM Morshed, Chief Financial Officer Mahtabuddin Ahmed and Chief Strategy Officer Yoshishige Hasegawa distributed certificates and prizes among the winners at its head office in the capital on Thursday.
The contest, launched in March, aimed at inspiring students studying media and journalism at different universities of the country to portray their talents.
Students were asked to form teams comprising three to five members and submit a two-minute video presentation alongside the written text covering a news item.
The six winning teams were selected in two categories: “Judges Choice”, where a board of judges chose the top three, and “Popular Choice”, where another top three were chosen based on the highest number of likes on Facebook.
IUB Head of Media and Communication GM Shahidul Alam and Robi Executive Vice President Md Zabid Ahsan (brand and market communication) and vice presidents Mohiuddin Babar (communications and media relations) and Khandaker Ashraful Hoque (brand and market communication) were present at the awarding ceremony.
