7,360kg stolen govt wheat recovered
A mobile court recovered 7,360kg of wheat, stolen from a government warehouse, at Hijuli village in sadar upazila of Meherpur district on Thursday afternoon.
Abu Naser Uddin, executive magistrate of Meherpur, said his mobile court raided a privately owned food warehouse of one Joynal Hossain in the area and recovered the wheat.
The court also sealed off the warehouse.
Sources said the wheat was stolen from Amjhupi government warehouse in Mujib Nagar upazila of Meherpur on Thursday.
Abu Naser said locals found some people loading the wheat in two trucks at noon the same day.
Joynal remained absconding.
Amjhupi warehouse In-Charge Israt Jahan was absent during the occurrence although she was supposed to be present at her office.
Israt said she knew nothing about the incident.
Delwar Hossain, deputy commissioner (DC) of the district, told The Daily Star that he will visit the food warehouse tomorrow (Sunday) to take necessary steps.
