BSF returns Rab man in Sylhet
Two Bangladeshi men including a Rab official, picked up by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday, were returned early yesterday following a successful flag meeting with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
Contacted, Commanding Officer of BGB 14 Battalion Lt Col MA Rahim said the two were handed over to Rab for taking legal actions against them.
Constable Shafiqul Islam of Rab-9 camp at Srimangal and local villager Subrata Tanti on Thursday went to Kunjabon area near Sindurkhan border to collect information on smugglers. At one stage they were picked up by BSF from Indian territory.
On information, Rab and BGB officials asked BSF to return the two but they were denied.
Later, a flag meeting was held near border pillar 1944 on the Indian side, in which BSF alleged that the two had unlawfully entered Indian territory to arrest two persons including an Indian. After the meeting the two were handed over around 1:30am.
