Boy drowns in canal
A boy drowned in a canal in Fatikchhari upazila of Chittagong yesterday.
Badh Dhor, 12, son of Koken Dhor, of North Dhurang Banik Para of Fatikchhari, went to the Dhurang Canal for swimming with his two playmates.
Suddenly a whirlpool was created when they moved to the deep end of the canal and Badh was drowned, fire service Officer Abul Kalam said quoting locals.
A team of fire service was searching for the boy till last afternoon but could not find him.
Kalam said their rescue operation was hindered due to whirlpools in the canal.
