512 mobile phone sets seized
The customs department of Hazrat Shah Amanat International Airport seized 512 mobile phone sets worth around Tk 50 lakh from a briefcase of an expatriate yesterday morning.
The expatriate, Akbar Uddin, 27, arriving from Sharjah and a resident of Fatikchhari upazila in Chittagong, had not paid the customs duty for the cellphones, said Assistant Commissioner Shahidul Islam of Chittagong Customs House.
