War Crimes Trial
Foreign friends urged to raise voice
Freedom fighters and politicians yesterday urged foreign citizens, who played a vital role in Bangladesh's Liberation War, to raise their voice globally to complete the ongoing war crimes trial.
They made the call at a discussion meeting on contribution of foreign citizens during the Liberation War, organised by Bangladesh Association of Michigan at Jatiya Press Club in the capital.
Addressing the function, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal standing committee member Shirin Akhter said, “We hope our foreign friends will cooperate with us to see the war criminals tried.”
She also demanded state recognition of some 30 lakh martyred people and 2 lakh women tortured in the war.
“Our party chief Hasanul Haq Inu will place a proposal in this connection in the next session of parliament,” she said.
Freedom fighter Lt Col (retd) Nurunnabi said, “We are proud of our foreign friends and we want to honour them. Our sprit of freedom will be enriched through honouring those who contributed to our freedom."
