Visa for Indonesia gets easier
From now on, Bangladeshi citizens can directly obtain Indonesian visit visas from its embassy in Dhaka as the country dropped Bangladesh from the list of countries under the Indonesian “calling visa's” policy.
“Calling visa” means anyone applying for visa to visit relatives or travelling to carry out activities for non-government organisations in Indonesia would require a clearance from Jakarta.
Tourists and businessmen never required any clearance from Jakarta, Lucky Nugraha, the third secretary of the Indonesian Embassy in Dhaka, told The Daily Star yesterday.
The working visa is the only category that now requires clearance from Jakarta, the official said.
A press release of the embassy yesterday said Bangladesh is no longer on the list of countries of Indonesian calling visa's policy as per the May 2 decree of the Minister of Law and Human Rights of Indonesia regarding calling visa's countries.
According to the decision, visit visas can be obtained by Bangladeshi citizens directly from the embassy of Indonesia in Dhaka without the need for clearance permit from the directorate general of immigration office in Jakarta, on condition that the visa application meets all the requirements.
