Batamul blast case hearing deferred
A Dhaka court yesterday deferred till July 19 the hearing of the cases in connection with the 2001 Pahela Baishakh blasts at Ramna Batamul.
Judge (In charge) Dr Mohammad Akhteruzzaman of the Second Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court passed the order after Additional Public Prosecutor Zahid Hossain Sardar submitted a petition seeking an adjournment of the hearing.
So far, the court recorded depositions of 55 witnesses out of 84.
Seven of the accused including Huji chief Mufti Abdul Hannan, now in custody, were produced before the court yesterday while Moulana Akbar Hossain, now on bail, was also present.
Six others including Moulana Tajuddin, brother of BNP leader Abdus Salam Pintu, have been absconding.
