Police recovered decomposed body of a woman from Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals' Graveyard area in the capital early yesterday. The victim was Rekha Begum, 35, wife of rickshaw puller Abdul Matin. Abu Bakar Siddique, sub-inspector (SI) at Darus Salam Police Station, said they recovered the body from the victim's room by breaking open the door around 2:15am. Police also seized a knife from the room. Quoting locals the SI said the couple had been living in the rented room for a month. Police suspect that Rekha was slaughtered by her husband about three or four days ago. SI Abu Bakar, however, could not say about the motive behind the killing. “We are trying to arrest Matin,” he added. Police sent the body to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
