Control of house rent hike demanded

The government should take steps to control house rent hikes, different social and political organisations demanded yesterday. They also demanded the introduction of rationing system for garment workers. The National Tenants Council formed a human chain and staged a demonstration in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the capital to press home their 15-point demands. Their demands include specific rules for house rent and shop rent control, and formation of a high-powered commission to control house rent and Thana based Rent Control Commission. Communist Party of Bangladesh at a rally in Segunbagicha demanded control of increase of house rent and essential commodities. They also demanded solutions to traffic congestion and power, water, and gas crises. At another human chain formed by Sramojibi Nari Oikya in front of the press club, speakers demanded introduction of rationing system for garments workers before the Ramadan. The leaders of the organisation demanded supply of rice, pulse, oil, sugar, baby food, and other essential commodities through the rationing system.
