8 killed, 82 injured in road accidents
Eight people were killed and eighty-two others injured in road accidents in Jessore, Dinajpur, Chittagong, Brahmanbaria, Habiganj, Dhaka and Chuadanga on Friday and yesterday.
Our Benapole correspondent says, school student Sabbir Hossain, 15, son of Sharif Hossain of Bezpara Bunopara area in Jessore town, died and three others got injured when two motorbikes collided head-on on Airport Road in the town yesterday.
The injured were rushed to Jessore Medical College Hospital.
BSS from Jessore adds, a bus fell into a roadside ditch at Dhalgram of Bagherpara upazila, killing one, Ramjan, instantly and injuring 26 others.
Our Chittagong correspondent says, covered-van driver Md Al Amin, 23, was killed instantly and 10 others were injured as a bus hit his van at Bartakia in Mirsarai upazila yesterday.
In Dinajpur, a bus fell into a roadside ditch at Ranirbandar in Chirirbandar upazila, injuring 37 passengers yesterday.
Following the accident, traffic on Dinajpur-Rangpur route remained suspended for at least three-and-half hours.
Of the injured, 36 were taken to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital and another to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
In Brahmanbaria, Jahangir Alam, 25, was killed as a pick-up van hit him on Akhaura-Dharkher road at Debogram in Akhaura upazila on Friday.
BSS from Habiganj adds, trucker Nur Mohammad, 35, died and five others got injured when the truck collided head-on with another truck on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway at Vorgaon in Nabiganj upazila on Friday night.
UNB reports, an unidentified trucker was killed and his helper injured as the truck plunged into a roadside ditch at Bismail in Savar on the outskirts of the capital yesterday.
Meanwhile, bus driver Ramjan Ali, 50, died on the spot when his vehicle fell into a roadside ditch at Sutipara in Dhamrai upazila yesterday.
In Chuadanga, Monwara Khatun alias Anjira Begum, wife of Rabiul Islam, was killed when a motorcycle hit her at Binodpur in Alamdanga upazila on Friday.
