Food factory, super shop fined
A mobile court yesterday shut down a food manufacturing factory and fined it and a super shop a total of Tk 1 lakh in Chittagong.
The court led by Joynal Abdin, executive magistrate of Chittagong City Corporation, conducted two drives in the city's Paschim Bakalia area of Chawk Bazar.
The court fined food factory Gulzer Food Products Tk 50,000 for producing some food items and sauces in an unhygienic environment while super shop Shwapno was fined an equal amount on charge of selling formalin infused tomatoes and dried fish.
Meanwhile, a mobile court in Satkania Upazila fined three shops and an eatery Tk 15,000 for selling goods lighter than the fixed weight and preparing and serving food items in an unhealthy environment respectively.
