Ex-CID officer gives deposition
One more witness in the Ramna Batamul carnage case gave his deposition before a Dhaka court yesterday.
Mohammad Lokman Hossain, a former inspector at Criminal Investigation Department (CID), also an investigation officer of the case, in his statement said he took over the charge of investigation into the case on July 17, 2003, and continued his investigation till January 7, 2004.
During his investigation, he visited the spot and tried his best to arrest the culprits responsible for committing such offences. But he failed to arrest any one of the culprits.
High authorities of the CID instructed him to hand over the case docket to another investigation officer before he [Lokman] was transferred to Rajshahi Range, he said.
The court then fixed August 26 for the next hearing.
