PWD official stand released for holding 'secret tender'
Shahin Mia, executive engineer of Public Works Department (PWD), Narail office, was stand released on Thursday for holding a tender secretly.
Contractor Kazi Ismael Hossain said that on June 28 few local contractors bribed Shahin with Tk 1.75 crore for the tender of academic building of Narail Teachers Training College to be granted to them.
When other contractors heard about the matter they submitted a written allegation to the secretary of ministry of public works, he said.
After the allegation, PWD formed a 3-member probe committee to investigate the incident, sources said.
On July 18, the committee went to the Narail office of PWD and examined the records and found Shahin guilty, they added.
