1 killed, 21 hurt in clash
A man was killed and 21 people were injured in a clash between two groups at Bede Palli in Goalimandra area of Louhajang upazila in Munshiganj yesterday.
The deceased Shahid Sardar, 50, an elected member of Haldia union parishad, was a drug trader and extortionist, said police and locals.
Shahid and his men attacked one Md Nurul Islam, as he protested drug selling.
The clash ensued when hearing Nurul's screams locals came forward to save him.
Locals beat Shahid and handed him over to police.
Later, police rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he died.
Of the injured, Amanullah, Md Nurul Islam, and Ismail Hossain were taken to Mitford Hospital while others to different local hospitals and clinics.
